The biggest web firm has put its weight to podcasting on the biggest smartphone OS. On June 19, Google launched Google Podcasts in the Play Store. Rather than the past podcasts add-on to Google Play Music, the new Google Podcasts is a standalone endeavor. Although there are many podcast apps for Android, the world's most popular operating system for smartphones, this one has Google's muscle behind it. As such, it will become a podcast destination and create opportunities for your station.

BBC Monitoring - End of an Era / பிபிசி மானிட்டரிங் லண்டனுக்கு இடம் மாறியது!

AIR Chennai's 80-year journey

June next year will see All India Radio (AIR) Madras/Chennai celebrate its 80th birthday. The station had evolved from the first broadcasting service in India, V Krishnaswamy Chetty's Madras Presidency Radio Club established in 1924. It made its first broadcast from Holloway's Garden in Egmore on July 31. The Club was rescued from financial difficulties in 1927 by the Madras.
